Why are you atheist?

I often get into debates about religion, mainly on account of the fact that I find it very difficult to keep my trap shut when someone has a pious moment and decides to invoke the 'good' lord for one reason or another. I've observed that these reasons are almost always to their advantage.

Read how he wiped out the old Gods, killed all the priests, destroyed the temples and united Israel under one King, with one capital, one temple and one God.

He then had his priests write a history and book of laws which coincided precisely with his ambitions, which they then 'discovered' whilst building the new temple.

The're only one God because one guy said so.
